# Launch your rebrand to your team first.

The number one reason rebrands fail?

The leadership team isn't aligned. And the rest of the company is even further behind.

Not because people don't care. Because they were left out of the loop.

It usually goes something like this. A small group makes the decision. A partner builds the new look. After months of quiet work comes the big reveal:

> "Hey everyone, look... new branding!"

And that's it.

## What happens next

Everyone else is left guessing:

- What does this new brand stand for?
- What's it supposed to change?
- Is it just a new logo?

Without answers, people fill in the blanks themselves. They pass mixed signals to their teams and to customers. The new brand looks great on the website, and nothing else changes.

That's an expensive way to get a new logo.

## A brand is action, not advertising

Your brand isn't your logo or your tagline. It's the experience you create for customers, employees and everyone who deals with your business.

Which means the people who create that experience, every day, need to understand the brand before anyone else does. Customers only believe a brand when the people behind it do.

A rebrand isn't a makeover. It's an inside-out change, and it needs everyone involved in the right way.

## How to launch to your team first

- **Bring leaders in early.** Involve them in the process, not just the reveal, so they can explain the "why" with conviction.
- **Tell the story, not just the look.** Share who you are, what makes you different, and the promise you're making to customers.
- **Connect it to their work.** Show each team how the brand shows up in sales conversations, service, hiring and everyday decisions.
- **Give them the words.** A short brand guide, key messages and an elevator story everyone can use.
- **Then go to market.** Once your team can tell the story, your customers will hear it everywhere.

## What it looks like in real life

When I rolled out an updated brand at a multi-site healthcare services company, we didn't start with the website. We started with training.

Teams in every market walked through what the brand stood for, the promise it made to customers, and how their own role helped deliver it. They left with simple tools to bring that promise into their daily work, so the brand showed up in real conversations, not just on paper.

The sales team didn't just get new materials. They got a story they believed in and could tell with confidence.

In some markets, sales beat their targets by 50%.

## The takeaway

If your team hears about your new brand at the same time as your customers, you've launched it in the wrong order.

Start inside. Everything else follows.
